About

Daydream Guitar is the creation of guitarist, educator and creative Craig Aalders. Growing up, Craig discovered a deep musical resonance at an early age. His initial influences included 50’s and 60’s pop and rock (Elvis Presley, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, CCR, The Rolling Stones) alongside classic Soul, R&B and Motown (Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye, The Supremes). After graduating high school Craig formally chose to study guitar/music as a career path. He began his journey with classical studies at Kwantlen University under instructor Don Hlus before transferring to Carlton University to study guitar, sound design and music composition with Michael Bussiere. While going to school Craig worked part-time at a local record store which further broadened his musical taste in various genres such as Jazz, Contemporary Classical, Electronic and Hip-Hop.

After graduating from Carlton, Craig continued his guitar studies with private lessons from Fred Donkor while beginning his foray into teaching. After several years of teaching in Ottawa, Craig made the move back to Vancouver. Since that time Craig has become an active player and instructor in the local music scene. Craig has had the pleasure of working with a diverse range of talented artists over the years such as: Wooden Horsemen, Leathan Milne, Sam Tudor, Jasper Sloan Yip, Booty EP, Lydia Hol, Marina Hasselberg.

Daydream Guitar marks the beginning of a new chapter in Craig’s musical journey. One which melds his love of guitar and teaching with his passion for design and creativity. Daydream Guitar is dedicated to helping nurture aspiring guitarists achieve their goals through innovative, inspiring content and 1 on 1 lessons.

In his own words “Thank you so much for checking out Daydream Guitar! It continues to be my absolute pleasure to teach and play guitar. I love what I do and genuinely care about helping develop the next generation of musicians. Don’t hesitate to get in touch to begin your own musical journey.”
